Modern Family today received six nominations for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Modern Family was nominated in the Outstanding Comedy Series category for the sixth consecutive year. The show already has a five year winning streak and is level with Frasier for the number of years it's won this award. Another win would take it ahead of the hit '90s sitcom on which many Modern Family writers once worked. The other nominees are FX's Louie, NBC's Parks and Recreation, HBO's Silicon Valley, Amazon Instant Video's Transparent, and Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and HBO's Veep.
Ty Burrell was nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for the sixth straight year. He won the award in 2011 and again last year. For the first time since the show began, there was only one Modern Family cast member nominated in the category. The other nominees are Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andre Braugher, Girls' Adam Driver, Key & Peele's Keegan-Michael Key, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's Tituss Burgess, and Veep's Tony Hale.
Julie Bowen was nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series award for the sixth consecutive year. She previously won the award in 2011 and 2012. Julie Bowen is the only Modern Family cast member nominated in this category for the first year since the show began. The other contenders for the award are Getting On's Niecy Nash, Mom's Allison Janney, Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon, The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik, Transparent's Gaby Hoffmann, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's Jane Krakowski, and Veep's Anna Chlumsky.
Elizabeth Banks also received a nomination in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category for her appearance as Sal. Modern Family also racked up nominations for "Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (Half-Hour) And Animation" and "Outstanding Casting For A Comedy Series".
The 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will air live on FOX on Sunday, September 20 at 8/7c and be hosted by Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg.
