Yesterday's hour-long season premiere of Modern Family finished first in the ratings for its time slot, despite dropping by over 2.50 million viewers from last season's premiere.
Last night's episodes, "Suddenly, Last Summer" and "First Days", had an audience of 11.68 million people, down from the fourth season premiere's 14.20m audience. This episode was still Modern Family's most-watched episode since January. Modern Family ranked first in its time slot in viewers, ahead of CBS's Criminal Minds with 11.27.
Modern Family continued to dominate the critical adults 18-49 demographic, scoring a 4.2/12 rating to easily dominate its time slot. Second-place Criminal Minds scored a 2.8/8, narrowly ahead of third-place Law & Order: SVU on ABC. This was Modern Family's best performance in the 18-49 demo since April.
