Julie Bowen won her second consecutive Emmy award at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy awards tonight. The actress took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series award at the ceremony in Los Angeles.
This was the actress's third consecutive nomination for the award, having been nominated each year since Modern Family began. All of Modern Family's six adult stars were nominated for an award this year, as they were last year. The stars of Modern Family all chose to submit for the supporting categories, as the cast of Friends famously did.
The other contenders for the award were Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory), Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie), Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live), Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) and the late Kathryn Joosten (Desperate Housewives).
