Modern Family today received five Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. The whole cast receive one nominations as an ensemble and a further four cast members received individual nominations.

The cast of Modern Family were nominated for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series award. They face competition from 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Glee and The Office. Modern Family won the award last year.

Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet were both nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series award. This is Burrell's second nomination and Stonestreet's first for the award. The other contenders for the award are 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin, The Office's Steve Carell and Two and a Half Men's Jon Cryer. Alec Baldwin took home the award last year.

Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen were also both nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series award. This is Vergara's second nomination and Bowen's first for the award. They go up against Nurse Jackie's Edie Falco, 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Hot in Cleveland's Betty White. Veteran TV star Betty White was the recipient of the award last year.

The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will air live on TBS and TNT on January 29th.
