Wednesday's episode of Modern Family finished third in the ratings for its time slot and fell to season lows, squeezed by American Idol on Fox and Criminal Minds on CBS.

"A Slight at the Opera" was watched by 9.83 million people, shedding exactly one million people from the previous episode. In the key adults 18-49 demo, Modern Family slipped to a 3.7/10 rating, down from 4.2/11 on January 23.
