Modern Family wins Golden Globe award

Modern Family won its first Golden Globe award last night at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills.

Modern Family took home the Best Series - Musical or Comedy award, beating out competition from Enlightened, Episodes, Glee and New Girl. This was the show's third consecutive nomination for the award, which went to Glee at the previous two ceremonies.

Modern Family stars Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara were both nominated individually for the Best Supporting Performance in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film Actor/Actress awards, but neither won an award this year. This was the stars' second consecutive nomination for those awards. The Best Actor in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film was won by Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage, while the Best Actress award went to American Horror Story's Jessica Lange.
