While Sarah Hyland is different than her Modern Family character in many ways (she's smart, focused, and not quite as boy-crazy), the twenty-one-year-old actress does share a love of fashion with Haley. Over the years, Sarah's style has evolved as she's become one of the most powerful actresses on the small-screen (the series has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for three years straight). The New York native opts for playful frocks with feathers and sequins, and when it comes time for award shows, she selects floor-length gowns in colorful hues. Her willingness to experiment with her look is why she's decided to front Nintendo's new game.

'Style Savvy: Trendsetters' allows players to manage their own virtual clothing boutiques and connect with other fashion-savvy users over the Internet. Players can design the look of their shops and choose from more than 12,000 items and accessories. We spoke to Sarah about how this game impacts her style.

**What do you like about the 'Style Savvy: Trendsetters' game? **

"I've always been a fan of Nintendo. My first memories of playing games are on my Nintendo 64 with Mario Kart, so when I found out that Nintendo 3DS made a fashion game, I was drawn to it. 'Style Savvy Trendsetters' is great because anyone can play it. That's what the campaign is all about: 'play as you are.' It lets you express yourself and play with fashion."

How does playing a virtual game impact how you dress in real life?

"It's fun to experiment and choose colors that you never thought would go together. There's a never-ending virtual closet, so it's great for me because I get to play around with different types of looks. If you'd like to incorporate it into your real closet, you can. I tried wearing a mustard color with maroon the other day."

**This season on Modern Family, Haley leaves home for college. Do you relate to your character as she grows up and has coming-of-age experiences? **

"Haley goes to college and she's super psyched about it, and then she realizes that she's alone and misses her family. I can relate to her because I moved out to California on my own. But I wasn't scared. I felt like I was my own person out here. I didn't ever have my own room since I grew up in really tight quarters, so it was nice to be on my own and have my space. But I don't relate to Haley on a lot of other levels!"

What can we expect from Haley in the upcoming few episodes?

"She's going to get into trouble sooner or later!"

We're excited for Struck By Lightning. How was it to work with Chris Colfer?

"He's a genius. He's so smart, funny, and witty, and he's an amazing actor on top of it all. Everyone should strive to be like Chris Colfer. We shot the film over a year ago, and since then, Rebel Wilson has blown up because of Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect, and it's awesome to see her become so successful."

What roles are you looking to play next?

"I'd love to play a character that's very different from Haley. Lately, I've been playing very fashion-forward, popular girls, which is great because it's led me to things like this Nintendo 3DS Style Savvy campaign. It'd be fun to do something a bit dorkier—or quirkier!"
