Modern Family and its cast were today nominated for thee Golden Globe Awards. The show picked up a nomination for Best TV Comedy Series, while its stars Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara both received a nomination for their acting. The show's nominations this year are the same as last year, though the show did not take home any of the awards at the last awards ceremony.

Modern Family was nominated the Best Musical or Comedy category. The other contenders for the award are New Girl, Enlightened, Episodes and Glee. This is the show's third consecutive nomination for the award.

Eric Stonestreet was again nominated for the Best Supporting Actor in a Series award. He goes up against Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Paul Giamatti (Too Big to Fail), Guy Pearce (Mildred Pierce) and Tim Robbins (Cinema Verite).

Sofia Vergara, who hosted the nominations announcement ceremony earlier today, received her second nomination in the Best Supporting Actress in a Series category. Her competitors for the award are Jessica Lange (American Horror Story), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey) and Evan Rachel Wood (Mildred Pierce).

The 69th Golden Globe Awards are to be broadcast live on Sunday, January 15th on NBC. The ceremony will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.
