Modern Family wins fifth consecutive Outstanding Comedy Emmy

Modern Family won its fifth consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series award at the 66th Primetime Emmy awards tonight in Los Angeles.

This was Modern Family's fifth straight nomination and win for this award. Modern Family beat out competition from FX's Louie, Netflix's Orange Is The New Black, HBO's Silicon Valley, CBS's The Big Bang Theory and HBO's Veep.

Modern Family now joins Frasier as the only shows to have won this award five times.

Earlier in the evening, Ty Burrell won his second Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy and Gail Mancuso won her second Outstanding Directing for a Comdedy Series Emmy.
