Modern Family wins Emmy award

Modern Family won its fourth consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series award at the 65th Primetime Emmy awards tonight in Los Angeles. Although the show won the big comedy award, Modern Family saw fewer wins tonight than it has received in past years.

This was Modern Family's fourth straight nomination and win for this award. Modern Family beat out competition from NBC's 30 Rock, CBS's The Big Bang Theory, HBO's Girls, FX's Louie and HBO's Veep to win the award.

The show now joins a small group of shows which have won the award four times times: All in the Family, Cheers and The Dick Van Dyke Show.
