Modern Family receives five Comedy Award nominations

Modern Family has received five nominations for the 2012 Comedy Awards, Comedy Central announced Tuesday. The show garnered four nominations and won two awards at last year's inaugral Comedy Awards.

The show was nominated for the best Comedy Series, Comedy Writing - TV and Comedy Directing - TV awards. The show's stars Ty Burrell and Sofia Vergara were nominated for the best Performance By An Actor - TV and Performance By An Actress - TV awards, respectively. This is Ty Burrell's second nomination for the award and Sofia Vergara's first.

Last year the show won the best Comedy Series and best Comedy Directing - TV awards. The show was also nominated for the best Comedy Writing -TV award but lost to NBC's 30 Rock.

This year's Comedy Awards ceremony will be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on April 28 and will premiere May 6 on Comedy Central.
